Yu-Gi-Oh Card Pendant - My first 3D printed jewelry and contest submission#
It’s save to say that Printables has become one of my most visited websites this year. While browsing the site the other day, I stumbled upon a Contest for Necklaces and Pendants and decided to give it a shot. I had never designed jewelry before, so I thought it would be a fun challenge. I decided to design a pendant based on the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game.
Inspiration and Design#
The inspiration for the design came from a pendant that one of the characters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime wears. It’s supposed to be kind of like an enclosure for a card. I started by measuring the dimensions of a Yu-Gi-Oh! card and then designed the pendant around it. I wanted it to be able to be closed, so I added a hinge and a clasp. I also added a loop to attach a chain or leather strap to it.
Printing#
I printed the pendant on my BambuLab P1S printer using PLA filament, used a 0.4mm nozzle and a layer height of 0.2mm. I printed the pendant in two parts, the top and the bottom. Since I was out of support filament, I printed the pendant without it (the only place where it would have been needed was the loop). It came out pretty good, only the top came out a bit stringy.
Are you winning, son?#
Definitely not. I didn’t win the contest, but I had a lot of fun designing and printing the pendant. I will definitely try to design more jewelry in the future. If you’d like to print the pendant yourself, you can find the files on Printables.
